I have shot and edited a variety of videos, ranging from one-minute "snippets" designed for social media usage to large, specialized videos intended to excite and inspire.
Utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, I combine photos, illustrations, titles, and sound with raw video to create compelling pieces that resonate with viewers. I invite you to see a sampling of my work below by clicking on the appropriate video. You can view each one either at its embedded size or expand it to your full screen by clicking on the "expand" icon in the lower right corner of each clip.
My work with Philips Gardco was always fun and challenging, and I usually had carte blanche to explore my creativity.
One of my more challenging projects was to create a "thank you" video that would close out their monthly Lighting Specifier Education Seminars. What made this project challenging was that it was to play across four screens. Their setup was devoid of any expensive switching and playback hardware using only a windows-based computer attached to four "monitors." The presentation was an elongated PowerPoint slideshow. The specs called for a standard 4:3 aspect video and that it would play the same content on each screen simultaneously. After playing around, I discovered that I could create one video at the proper aspect ratio so that the action would move from one screen to another. Blending product photography, clips of fire and water, animated illustrations, and sound effects, I came up with the video embedded here. The video was always well-received, and seminar attendees left with a positive feeling.
Another large-scale project had me tasked with developing short videos highlighting the features and benefits of the Philips Gardco product lines for their website. In total, I created 30 separate videos, from scripting, storyboarding, editing, compositing, and adding the closed-captioning. We shot the speakers against a green screen, allowing me to have full creative flexibility in adding graphics, illustrations, and other pieces to provide clear and concise product information.
I produced several small videos for Cooledge Lighting, a Canadian startup that developed a flexible LED light source that allowed for virtually unlimited light fixture design opportunities.
The first communicates the excitement the product received when it launched at Lightfair, the trade's annual convention. Using actual comments that the company received, I created a fast-paced montage interspersed with clips of the product and the tradeshow. The clip was sent out to prospected customers as well as placed on the company website.
One of Cooledge's primary customers was the lighting fixture manufacturers. The idea for the second video was to inspire these companies to design innovative new products around the flexible light sheet. Unfortunately, many did not seem to initially "get it." The idea was to create video clips and advertisements that would demonstrate the benefits of this new light source by asking them to think outside of the box. Using some simple animation and a bit of humor, I rearranged a quote from Thomas Edison - the inventor of the traditional light bulb - to illustrate how simple it is to create a new fixture using the Cooledge Light Sheet.
Ampersand Art Supply manufactures wooden painting panels. These take the place of canvas, providing a more permanent surface, as well as some unique creative opportunities. Many of the great paintings are on panels, including Leonardo DaVinci's Mona Lisa.
I created quite a few videos for their social media accounts, designed to sell, inspire, and teach. The one I have here teaches two different concepts in about a minute. The first is mounting a photograph to a panel for a professional look, while the second shows how simple it is to frame using their newest product, Floaterframe. Filmed with an iPhone, this was a simple edit that accomplished the task quickly and entertainingly.
I'm always open to new creative collaborations, whether freelance design or marketing projects or full-time opportunities. Reach out, and I'll get right back with you.
